Entomophily and taxonomy of Splachnaceae
Aune Koponen
My studies on Splachnaceae actually begun when professor Tamás Pócs sent a specimen of Splachnaceae to H and hoped it to be identified. It showed to be a species new to science and the securing its taxonomic position led to a revision of the genus Tayloria and and related genera. The entomophily (the fly/Splachnum/Tayloria/Tetraplodon relationships) was studied in the field as well as in the laboratory and showed to be in connection with the taxonomy and classification of these bryophytes.
