Entomology DivisionThe research carried out at the division is focused on taxonomy and systematics, that is, on describe and naming organisms, as well as discovering their phyletic relationships, with the main goal being classification into known goups. Monitoring Finland's fauna is also an important function of the division. For example, in the past decade the annual variations in populations of various species have been followed actively. The staff of the division also act as experts in projects aimes at monitoring the threatened species of Finland. Services to the public include expert statements.
