Notes on Carex dioica

 

Carex dioica L. (Cyperaceae), typical (on the left) and a morph (on the right) (Finland, Lohja, Immula. 1992). Image: Harri Harmaja (scanned from dried specimens). In the deviating plant, the (female) spike glumes are paler brown, the perigynia broader, and the perigynium neck a bit shorter.
    The habitat is a rich fen with Carex flava, Eriophorum latifolium, Huperzia appressa, Trichophorum alpinum, T. cespitosum, etc.
